Lucas, who has always been my “scared of water” kid decided on Saturday that he actually loves the beach. He took off in the baby float pulling the boogie board and he was headed away. Like away, away. I had to go get him. When I asked why he was going so far out he said, “I’m going to the North Pole ‘cause I wanna see the panda bears (he means polar bears).” I told him that it would take way too long and might get picked up by the Coast Guard before he got that far north. I LOVE, LOVE how dead serious he was…and his obvious annoyance that I was stopping his mission.
This is Haven. He is the oldest child on our team. Josiah and Lucas think he is awesome…and he is!
I like this picture. I think he looks like a really cool beach bum.
Snack time before heading home. Both families were trying to keep our worn out kids awake so that they would actually nap once home. We were surprisingly successful despite the 20 minute traffic jam that we got stuck in. Saturday is a big market day in Haiti so it was extra crowded as a result but there was plenty of interesting people watching to be had while sitting in traffic. It is always humorous to be blatantly started at but with a car packed out with lots of white little kids it just happens in Haiti. I feel like it is completely acceptable to stare back.
Please pray for us tomorrow (Tuesday). We start our first official language class with our Haitian Creole tutor AND I have my first driving lesson in Haiti. Pray that I and everyone else on the road will survive. I don’t know how to say it other than driving is just WAY different in Haiti….as in WAY crazier and WAY more horn happy.
I will let you know how it goes!
I'll bet the boys are loving this! Can't wait to play in the water with my grandsons! mom:)
