This is what we do.

My days are mostly the same with little variance from day to day.  We wake up when the sun comes up.  Get dressed (which takes very little time for me nowdays! Dress, Brush teeth, wad hair up, wash face. Done.  If I’m feeling like dressing up I will put my contacts in!)

Make breakfast. Eat. Clean up dishes (takes longer then expected due to lack of running water)  We have family time with Jesus then start our homeschool day.  This week during science we have been learning about different birds.  One afternoon the kids gathered materials that a bird might use to make a nest then we worked on making a nest.  They wanted a big bird sized nest but since this “kid” project quickly became a mom project that was NOT happening.  Making a nest is difficult and I have a newfound respect that birds do this without hands.  Very amazing that God equips them with the skills they need to take care of their young.

This week we added a new aspect to learning life in Haiti.  We started with our language tutor!  Jody & I spend 2 hours each day with him.

Pray that we will absorb the language quickly and have full understanding.  Pray also for our energy levels so that we will have what we need to study diligently in the evenings after long, hot, exhausting days.

This is Jean Montes our tutor.  He has been super helpful and we look forward to working with him and getting to know him more.  Our boys already love him and come running to greet him each morning.  In these pictures you can see that we are learning some very basic things like what to call people and simple objects you can find around the house.  Our goal is to try as much as possible to learn like babies learn language.  We do lots of listening and then he asks us questions that we have to respond to by pointing or doing different commands so that he can make sure we are understanding the new material each day.
